The FIT format, which is supported by Garmin watches and also by more and more other manufacturers, offers developers the possibility to store any information of their own about an activity. Garmin IQ apps can not only show new data during the activity, but also save it in the file.
Up to now, we have only integrated individual data series and fields (e.g. the RunScribe data or additional Stryd data) in RUNALYZE when there was a corresponding demand. We have now extended the support for such developer fields. From now on RUNALYZE imports all additional data fields automatically. This applies to all new activities on June 2nd (11:30 UTC).

Since RUNALYZE does not know anything specific about these developer fields and what data is contained there, the display is of course somewhat limited. At first, the display always shows average (without ignoring empty values or 0) and maximum and an accuracy of one decimal place is used.
But of course, as is so often the case, the automatic import of developer data opens up even more possibilities, which we will evaluate in the future.
Now it’s your turn
We would like to hear from you which additional Connect IQ Apps or data fields you use!
And if you find a problem, please send us the FIT file with some information about which app you are using.
Hi Runalyze team. I’ve some Apps developed on the Garmin store and I’m adding some information as FIT data fields (fat and carbs burned). I can sucessfully read the resulting FIT data fields on the Garmin Connect web site, but when I try to view the data on my runalyze account I only see the graphs, but no information about average, maximum value, etc.. Perhaps I forgot to specify some data when I created the fields. I use the method createField(“SP Fat”, 0, Fit.DATA_TYPE_FLOAT, { :mesgType => Fit.MESG_TYPE_RECORD, :units => “g” }). You can contact me by using my email adress and then I could send you an example FIT recorded with my device to try to find out what’s missing. Thanks in advance and congrats for your website! Greetings. Toni.
I’ve wrote you a mail. Average/max/min values from Developer session fields are not stored yet. This will be added later and will be then available for new activities. But maybe I’ve got you wrong. We will see when you send us the example fit file :)
Folks, I use Brian Toone’s My Bike Traffic data field and website to check the number and speed of cars that pass me when I ride. It would be great if you could add support for that data in RA.

Thanks
We have this on our list – but this needs more development time.
It would be great if a developer field could be mark as second heart rate sensor. And overlay on the base heart rate, as well as used for secondary heart rate computation. I’m running with a Bluetooth chest strap and log it as a developer field to keep also the data of the watch optical wrist sensor. It could also be useful for people using this ant app https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a461bc0d-828d-47c8-a4a5-8d014b5fedc9#0
